Course production studioBrooklyn, NY — est. for experts who teach

Not a video library — a course your people finish.

Vandermeer & Hale turns what your experts know into finished, SCORM-compliant online courses — scripted, filmed, built and uploaded to your LMS from our desks in Brooklyn, NY, for one fixed fee.

01 / 07 — House rules

Four house rules, pinned above the edit desk

We’d rather show you how we think than hand you quotes from strangers. These four hang on the wall in Brooklyn, and every course gets measured against them.

Rule 01 — Learning design

If a learner can’t say what they’ll do differently on Monday, the module isn’t finished.

Rule 02 — Scriptwriting

We write the script out loud before we write it down. Experts talk better than they type.

Rule 03 — Production

Learners forgive soft focus. They never forgive bad audio.

Rule 04 — LMS upload

We test the package in your LMS before we call it delivered. A course that won’t launch isn’t a course.

02 / 07 — The studio

Two desks, one finished course

Vandermeer runs the page. Hale runs the room. Your expert deals with both of them, and nobody else.

Desk 01 — Learning design & script

Vandermeer

Interviews your expert, decides what a learner must be able to do by the final slide, and writes a script in your expert’s own voice — short sentences, one idea per breath.

Desk 02 — Production & build

Hale

Runs the shoot and the screen capture, cuts the video, builds the interactive modules and packages the SCORM file — then tests the upload in your LMS before anything is called delivered.

03 / 07 — A typical build

Anatomy of one course, week by week

A representative schedule for a 40-minute course with five modules. Your calendar will flex with how fast your reviewers reply — the clock stops when we’re waiting on you, not on us.

01

Scoping interview & outline

A recorded 90-minute interview with your expert. We leave with a one-sentence learner outcome and a module outline you sign off on.

Week 1 — Deliverable: outline v1
02

The script

Written to be spoken, not read. Your expert marks it up, we revise once, then we lock it — nothing gets filmed from an unlocked page.

Week 2 — Deliverable: locked script
03

Shoot day & screen capture

One day of talking-head footage on a teleprompter, plus screen-capture sessions that walk through your software, forms or slides.

Week 3 — Deliverable: raw footage + captures
04

Edit & interactive build

Video cut to the script, then knowledge checks, branching scenarios and drag-and-drop exercises assembled around it.

Week 4 — Deliverable: working draft
05

Two review rounds

You send one consolidated set of comments per round. We turn them around in three working days.

Week 5 — Deliverable: approved cut
06

SCORM package & LMS upload

Packaged as SCORM 1.2 or 2004, uploaded to your LMS, and tested for launch, scoring and completion tracking. Source files and video masters come to you.

Week 6 — Deliverable: live course

04 / 07 — Fixed-fee packages

One course, or the whole shelf

Every package is a single invoice: no hourly meter, no per-revision tally. Pick the scale, and we’ll confirm the fee in writing after the scoping call.

Questions clients ask at the first call

Q1Will the SCORM file actually work in our LMS?

We package for SCORM 1.2 or 2004, whichever your LMS prefers, and we upload and test it there — launch, scoring, completion — before handoff. If you’d rather we test in a sandbox first, tell us at scoping.

Q2What do we have to supply?

Your expert for a 90-minute interview, one shoot day, and a single point person for consolidated feedback. Existing slides, manuals or SOPs help, but we don’t need them polished.

Q3Do we own the files afterwards?

Yes. The SCORM package, source project files, script and video masters are delivered to you at the end, so a future update doesn’t require us.

Q4What if reviewers keep changing their minds?

Two rounds are included. A locked script protects the shoot, so major rewrites after filming are scoped separately. Extra review rounds are $390 each, quoted before we start them.

Q5How do we pay?

Half to start, half when your LMS accepts the course. We invoice and accept card, ACH or check.

06 / 07 — The brief, in one line

Start the file

“A course is finished when your learner can do the thing — not when the last video is exported.”
